From the recording Five on the Floor!
Veterans of '80s new wave, '90s metal and '00s electropop, The Wavos bring a multitude of influences. Like the other original songs on Five on the Floor!, this one's a bit of a departure for us. An homage to Prince and to Stevie Wonder's bass lines, it brings an element of soulful funk to our traditionally '80s new wave/powerpop focus. Joe's clean guitar chords and falsetto vocals lay the foundation of the song. Tone's drums and Gordon's synth bass & baritone sax samples beef up the low end, with Gordon's string & horn sections and noodling sax solo topping it all off.
Lyrics
On love beach, only on love beach
Love beach, hold me on love beach
Love beach, moanin' on love beach
Love beach, lonely on love beach
You and I on the fourth of July
We're gonna take off all of our clothes
Hey I understand that you're in command ooh!
I'll take you somewhere nobody knows
Me and you and some friends of yours too
We're gonna take off all of our shoes
We're under the boards play four on the floor
In syncopated rhythm and blues
Comin' to ya, comin' to ya, ..., comin'
Wavos show 'em what you got!
We're gonna land in the hot sticky sand
We're gonna curl up all of our toes
Hey I understand that you're in command ooh!
We'll take you somewhere nobody knows
